Collage Shortcuts

These apply while a Collage slideshow is running:

ActionmacOSWindows
Larger tiles (fewer Flow columns)--
Smaller tiles (more Flow columns)==
Reverse infinite scroll (Flow)↑↑
Resume forward scroll (Flow)↓↓

Infinite scroll (Flow only, on by default) slowly scrolls the photo wall and pauses whenever you move the mouse or interact, then resumes when you're idle. The Up arrow reverses the scroll so you can go back up to a photo that caught your eye, and the Down arrow returns to forward. A Reverse button in the collage overlay controls does the same thing with the mouse.

Multi-Monitor Slideshow Shortcuts (macOS)

Control multiple slideshows running on different displays:

ActionmacOS Shortcut
Play/Pause All⌥ Space
Previous All⌥ ←
Next All⌥ →

Option Modifier

Hold ⌥ Option while pressing any slideshow shortcut to affect all running slideshows simultaneously. Without Option, shortcuts only affect the focused slideshow window.

Tips for Keyboard Efficiency

Learn Progressively

Week 1: Master the essential 5

  • Space, arrows, F, Esc

Week 2: Add slideshow controls

  • S, +, -, R

Week 3: Add file operations

  • Copy, Save, Reveal

Week 4: Add tagging (Pro)

  • Quick tag numbers 1-9

Create Muscle Memory

Practice pattern:

  1. Use shortcuts consciously for 1-2 days
  2. They become automatic within a week
  3. Speed increases dramatically

Common pattern to memorize:Space → Space → Space → ← → ← → 1 → →

(Random 3 times, back 2, tag first, forward)

Mouse vs Keyboard

Mouse strengths:

  • Precise clicking
  • Visual browsing
  • Drag and drop

Keyboard strengths:

  • Speed (2-3x faster)
  • No hand movement
  • Repeatable actions

Best approach: Hybrid

  • Keyboard for navigation
  • Mouse for selection
  • Keyboard for actions

Keyboard-First Challenge

Try going keyboard-only for one session:

  1. Launch Rando
  2. Space to start
  3. Use only keyboard for 10 minutes
  4. Notice speed improvement

Most users find keyboard-first 2-3x faster after adaptation.
